Palmetto Canine has many training and behavior programs. In most problem solving cases we can correct the dog and handler problem(s) within three (3) sessions.

Let's look at dog owner leadership and how it can solve behavior problems. Any group of people and dogs residing in a house will result in the formation of a pack. A ranking order must be established. The one who is the most persistent usually end up as a pack leader. The highest ranking dog or human is granted the most privileges by the rest of the pack and becomes the pack leader, the less persistent less dominant individuals rank lower with fewer privileges or none at all.

Basic Obedience - How Important Is It?

Basic obedience training can be potentially life saving education for any dog or puppy. Dogs may have been domesticated for centuries, but they will always have their canine instincts. They are not born with any instinctive knowledge of how to behave in a human household. In fact, everything about living in a human household completely contradicts what a dogs' instincts tell him to do, which may include anything from digging out trenches in your beautiful grassy lawn or flower bed, incessantly  barking and howling, chewing up your favorite pair of shoes, the molding around a door, maybe even a few of the couch cushions, celebrating your homecoming from work by excitedly jumping all over you as a greeting, and stealing food off the dining room table or even from the garbage can.

An alarming rate of dogs and even young puppies are surrendered to shelters every day for behavioral problems just like these and more. Behavioral problems that could have been avoided with proper obedience training and gentle guidance. Unfortunately, many dogs don't make it out of shelters alive due to those behavior problems that could have been prevented or solved with training.

When you first adopt a dog or puppy, make training the # 1 priority. Even if you feel as though you can handle training on your own, consult with a professional trainer. It can make a big difference for the rest of you and your dog's life, also you have someone to turn to when you have questions or concerns that you cannot find the answers to alone.
