Dog and Puppy Behaviors

These Listed Behaviors are for puppies and dogs!

Our behavior management addresses problem behaviors.

Seperation Anxiety

This can be one of the most damaging behaviors a puppy or dog can develope. Seperation anxiety can be irritating, prompting your puppy or dog to bark when you leave it alone. This can eventually cuse the dogor puppy to destroy your property, makeing messes, or barking non stop for hours.

Excessive Barking

Puppy or Dog barking nonstop can create enornous problems for you and for your neighbours. You can loose a good nights sleep over it. It can cause owners toloose effection towards their puppy.

Chewing Problems

One of the most common problems a puppy owner can face. Chewing is a natural behavior in puppies. Chewing can result from boardom or teething. Owners sometimes say in time they will grow out of it. Unfortunately this isn/t the case. If chewing isn't stopped early we can have a bigger problem after they have chewed a piece of our expensive furniture.

Poop Eating (Coprophagia)

It's revolting, unattractive, and generally unsafe in many ways. I can become a common habit which cn cause stress for many dog owners. It can be a sign of deeper anxiety or nutritional issues.

Grass Eating

Although most people generally consider dogs to be carnivores, they are in fact omnivores, in that they eat both plants and animals. Grass eating can be a natural behavior, although not all dogs eat grass. Some dog eat grass frequently while other eat it occasionally

Jumping Up On People

Jumping up can be dangerous as well as annoying. Young children and elderly people can easily be toppled over and seriously injured by exuberant, friendly dogs. Dogs or puppies also can cause injury to themselves.

Submissive Urnitation

Submissive urination is a normal way for your puppy to demonstrate subnissive behavior. Excitement urination with a puppy is usually caused by lack of bladder control.

Aggression

Puppy or dog aggression is a serious matter which left to develop can lead to all sorts of aggression problems later in life. Puppy aggression may vary from puppy to puppy, and dog to dog. There are factors that can contribute to this behavior: Socialization, Environment, Pain, A Traumatic Experience, and Genetics.

Whining and Crying

The new owner faces many challenges and these two can be the leader. This behaviour is quite common and natural. A puppy should not be from it's mother at a minimum of 8 weeks old. The more responsible puppy breeders will usually wait until they are 10-12 weeks old. The extra weeks play a critical time in social development; the mother teaches proper doggie manners, like bite inhitition and not playing to rough.

Food Aggression

If your dog stares at you, snarls, growls and ositions himself between you and the food he is actually saying to you this is mine, go away, find your own. He is telling you I am the leader. This is a serious dominate issue. This behaviour will simply not go away. It will become more dangerous!

Dog On Dog Aggression

This particular behavior is a complex canine behavioral problem, each case requires an individual approach. It can surface at any time throughout your dog's life. There are two main problem areas: Dogs living in the same household (sibling rivalry) and on-leash walks.

Counter Surfing and Thieving

Also can be called thieving, begging, thieving items from around the house, snatching things from your hand, and stealing the garbage. Dogs are opportunistic scavengers. This habit can be annoying and frustrating, it is also potentially a very dangerous one thieving something poisonous, a sharp item or knocking over a boiling pan. Dogs consider this as a self rewarding behaviour.

Fence Jumping

This behaviour can also be a difficult behavior to correct. To the dog this is a self-rewarding behavior. Every time he jumps the fence this strenghtens the behaviour and is reinforced.

Stop Running Away, Escaping, Roaming and Bolting Out The Door

This is what we call frustrating behaviors. This is another self rewarding behaviour for the dog. This is another difficult problem to correct. I have see people in my neighborhood running down the road, through the streets, over fences, etc.

Hyperactive

Sometimes called Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This type of dog never sits still, is always on the move. Hyperactivity in dogs is a genuine medical condition which is ultimately a diagnosis of exclusion. A hyper dog is almost frantic in his activity. Don't confuse this behaviour with over active or highly active dogs which are not medical conditions.

People Aggression

Dog aggression toward people may begin with growling, barking, fear and raised hackles. Also this type of aggression can be caused by the person or people around the dog. Dog's cannot tell us what they are thinking, so we must understand this very important point.

Digging

Dogs dig for a number of reasons, but is not digging to spite us. Dogs may dig because they like to, maybe board, to get our attention, for shelter (cooler or warmer), to get to fertilized dirt, etc.
